ABC Bringing Back Barbara Walters' 'Most Fascinating People' Special
Oprah Winfrey, Scarlett Johansson, Neil Patrick Harris and Chelsea Handler will be featured
ABC is bringing back Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People special.
After announcing that last year's installment would be the final one, the network has opted to resurrect the show for at least one more year. The two-hour primetime special, which highlights the year's most prominent names in entertainment and pop culture, has been given the Sunday, Dec. 14 9-11 p.m. ET/PT slot.
Oprah Winfrey, newly named Oscar host Neil Patrick Harris, Chelsea Handler and Scarlett Johansson are the first to be named as Walters' interviewees. Additional names will be announced at a later date.
"I was absolutely delighted when ABC approached me to do another year of 10 Most Fascinating People,” said Walters in a statement. “I know we said last year was our last, but there are just too many fascinating people out there…and you never pass up the opportunity to interview Oprah, Neil, Chelsea or Scarlett.”
Last year, Walters' Most Fascinating Person of the Year was former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The special has been running on ABC since 1993.
Walters, who retired earlier this year, serves as executive producer along with Bill Geddie, who will also direct. Walters continues to serve as an executive producer for The View, on which she appeared for her final episode in May, and contribute to ABC News on an as-needed basis.
