ABC delays 'Notes'; Fox advances 'Kitchen'

ABC has moved back the due date of the pregnancy comedy "Notes From the Underbelly," the network said Wednesday.

In addition, Fox has moved up the premiere of the returning reality series "Hell's Kitchen."

With Tuesday's announcement from Fox Broadcasting Co. that the Wednesday results edition of "American Idol" would expand to a full hour for three upcoming episodes beginning April 11, that would have hurt "Notes,' which was scheduled to premiere at 9:30 p.m. April 11 (HR 3/12).

"Notes" now shifts to Thursdays beginning April 12, when back-to-back episodes will air from 10-11 p.m. That in turn also will give it "Grey's Anatomy" as a lead-in.

But "Notes" will uproot "Men in Trees," which originally was scheduled to return to the air in that time slot. ABC is still determining when to reschedule "Trees," which could still return in that slot if "Notes" underperforms.

Sources indicate ABC is even considering holding the outstanding episodes of "Trees" until next season in order to minimize its amount of repeats.

Also to be determined is if and when new drama "October Road" will return to the schedule; it was scheduled to occupy the Thursday 10 p.m. time slot until April 5. That will leave two remaining episodes of "Road" that will need a time slot.

Replacing "Underbelly" in its original Wednesday slot will be "In Case of Emergency," which was originally scheduled to end its run on April 4. Now its last episode will air on April 18. No word yet on what series will take over the 9:30 p.m. slot on April 25.

Over at Fox, "Kitchen" is moving its premiere date from June 25 to June 4 at 9 p.m. That will give "Kitchen" the lead-in of the "film premiere" episodes of the new Steven Spielberg/Mark Burnett unscripted series "On the Lot."

In addition, Fox is bringing back its fall drama "Standoff" on June 8 for new episodes that will air at 9 p.m.
