ABC Family gets 'Friday Night Lights'

All five seasons of NBC show to begin airing in Sept.

ABC Family has acquired the basic cable rights to air NBC's acclaimed "Friday Night Lights."

The deal with NBC Universal Domestic TV gives ABC Family the right to air all five planned seasons of the series.

The network will begin airing the first season in September; the fourth season is currently running on NBC on Fridays.

"'Friday Night Lights' is a perfect fit for ABC Family's sensibility for the modern day family program," said Bruce Casino, senior vp of cable sales at NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution. "ABC Family will introduce this award-winning show to a whole new audience segment where the series can thrive in its new environment."
