Former ABC News Exec Fiona Conway to CBC News in Canada

The native Canadian returns north after senior producer stints at "Good Morning America" and "ABC World News Tonight" to oversee a cross-platform news-gathering push.

TORONTO – Former ABC News exec Fiona Conway has returned to Canada to become executive director of programming at CBC News and Centers.

Emmy- and Peabody-award winner Conway was most recently director of news and clients services at ABC News, based in New York City.

Her new post at the CBC includes helping ensure the Canadian pubcaster remains relevant to Canadians in the increasingly digitally-driven news arena.

Her ABC stints included senior producer for Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight, where she worked with fellow Canadian Peter Jennings.

“Her career accomplishments to date are tremendously impressive, and her talents will only enhance what is already one of the world’s finest news organizations,” Jennifer McGuire, editor in chief of CBC News, who launched a cross-platform approach to newsgathering to build on the traditional radio and TV platforms at the pubcaster, said.

“I have been really fortunate at ABC News to have been a part of some of the biggest news stories of our time. I can’t think of a more exciting next chapter than my new role with CBC News,” Conway added in her own statement.
