Beginning Dec. 1, the 'World News Tonight' anchor will host the one-minute weekday episodes on the social media platform

ABC News is putting the "news" in "News Feed."

World News Tonight anchor David Muir will host a daily Facebook-based newscast beginning Dec. 1, it was announced Monday morning. The one-minute news update, titled Facecast: The One Thing, will give users highlights of the day's top stories — breaking news, the economy, sports, politics and other trending topics — and will be shot at ABC News headquarters in New York City.

"We are grateful that our audience engages with David Muir and World News Tonight on social media all day long," said World News Tonight executive producer Almin Karamehmedovic. "We're very excited to launch a newscast that is exclusively for Facebook, where users can continue the conversation beyond the evening newscast at any time."

Facecast: The One Thing, available on the World News Tonight Facebook page, is the first-ever daily newscast for social media hosted by an evening news anchor.

"Video on Facebook is growing fast, and it's exciting to see ABC and David Muir create unique content for this platform," added Andy Mitchell, director, news and global media partnerships. "A newscast produced for the mobile use case is a great way to leverage Facebook's platform and engage people in the journalism ABC News is known for."
