ABC pair heads ATAS honor roll
EmptyABC's Sunday night series "Brothers & Sisters" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," FX's documentary series "30 Days" and the multi-network telethon "Stand Up to Cancer" are among eight programs selected to receive the second annual Television Academy Honors.
The awards ceremony, set for April 30 at the Beverly Hills Hotel and produced by Phil Gurin, acknowledges TV programs airing in 2008 that tackled important social issues.
John Shaffner, chairman and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, said the academy's honor committee screened nearly 150 programs — including scripted comedies and dramas, TV movies and reality and documentary programs — before selecting the honorees. (partialdiff)
