ABC Signs VOD Series Deal With Germany’s Maxdome

The deal gives German users preview and VOD access to episodes of ABC series such as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Castle.’

COLOGNE, Germany – Disney has signed an extensive VOD rights deal with Germany’s Maxdome, giving the online streaming site VOD rights, in Germany and original versions, to ABC Studios’ series including Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Castle.

The deal between Disney’s German operation and Maxdome parent company ProSiebenSat.1, will see Maxdome offer the series’ under the “ABC TV on demand” logo. In addition to current shows, the deal covers all previously broadcast episodes of selected series and includes off-the-air programs such as Lost and Scrubs.

For series currently on air on ProSiebenSat.1’s networks in Germany, Maxdome will offer its customers preview screenings of upcoming episodes on a pay-per-view basis.

Maxdome is Germany’s largest VOD site. It has licensing deals with most of the U.S. studios as well as several German independent licensers.
