ABC's 'The Revolution' Marching Into Canada
Rogers Media has acquired the "One Life to Live" replacement for its Citytv stations, where it faces local daytime competition from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "The Talk."
TORONTO - Canadian daytime TV continues in upheaval now that U.S. syndicated talkers are rapidly replacing soaps.
The latest local entry is ABC’s The Revolution, acquired by Rogers Media to debut on January 16 on its Citytv stations, just after the final episode of One Life to Live on January 14.
The Revolution, to air weekday afternoons at 2 p.m., will feature a panel of lifestyle gurus that includes Canadian celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, design expert Ty Pennington and fashion expert Tim Gunn (Project Runway).
The U.S. import will face stiff competition north of the border in the post-Oprah Winfrey Show era as it goes up against The Ellen DeGeneres Show on CTV, The Talk on Global Television and Steven and Chris on CBC.
3 Ball Productions and Eyeworks USA are producing The Revolution, which is taped in New York City.
J.D. Roth and Todd A. Nelson are executive producing the lifestyle talker.
