Acclaimed ‘Grateful Dead Movie’ Returning to Theaters

Rockumentary, featuring never-before-seen interviews with with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, will be shown for one-night only next month on nearly 540 screens nationwide.
Head’s up, Deadheads: The Grateful Dead Movie is returning to the big screen again.The critically-acclaimed, cinematic concert rockumentary, featuring never-before-seen interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, will be released for one-night, Wed., Apr. 20, in nearly 540 movie theaters nationwide. Directed by Garcia and filmmaker Leon Gast, the movie captures the band’s legendary 1974 concerts in San Francisco at the pinnacle of their psychedelic worldwide fame and features such classics as “U.S. Blues” and “One More Saturday Night.” The Grateful Dead Movie first debuted in NYC in 1977. “This flashback concert is a chance for Dead Heads to relive the experience of one the band’s most famous performances,” Dan Diamond, vice president of NCM Fathom, said in a statement. “The never-before-seen interview with Jerry Garcia is definitely a must-see, and Dead fans may just see themselves or their friends on the big screen who were at the 1974 concerts.
