Activision Offers TV Viewers a Chance to Appear in ‘The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct’ Game
Contest clues will air during new episodes of AMC's hit TV series to cross-promote the 2013 game release.
In an interesting cross-media, cross-marketing partnership, Activision Publishing and developer Terminal Reality have teamed up with AMC to offer The Walking Dead fans a chance to appear in the new Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC game. “Dead Giveaway” is an eight-week contest that will challenge viewers to watch the show and log online to enter for the chance to appear as a character in the game, which serves as a prequel to the first season of the show.
Clues will be revealed during new episodes of The Walking Dead season three on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on AMC. Fans can enter the clues online at www.amcdead.com and each week one lucky winner will be chosen to appear as a character in the game. Terminal Reality will then use photos of his or her facial likeness to create a unique character whose backstory and chilling death scene may be encountered by players during The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

As on the show, inquisitive survivors will be able to piece together how these characters lived before uncovering the scenes behind each of their horrific ends. Each contest winner will be hidden in a different level. There will even be a special challenge to track down all the winners. Every new episode between now and Sunday, December 2, 2012 offers a new chance to enter and win.
Developed by Terminal Reality, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a do-whatever-you-need-to-survive first-person action game that brings the deep, character-driven world of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning TV series onto console gaming systems and the PC in a frightening new way. The game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.
Players will need to tread carefully throughout this grim adventure, as resources are scarce and hope even scarcer. From scrounging for food, water and ammunition to surviving encounters with the undead and the living, gamers will have to use their wits to stay alive in this terrifying, post-apocalyptic world.
AMC’s The Walking Dead, the number one drama series in basic cable history, secured a 2010 Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series - Drama and won the 2011 and 2012 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Scott Wilson, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira and David Morrissey. Season three of The Walking Dead is executive produced by showrunner Glen Mazzara, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.
