Adele's 25 is coming soon...or is it?

Adele's hugely anticipated third album is widely expected to drop before the year's end. And a new rumor, sparked by the official Twitter account of the World Music Awards, is driving chatter about a surprise release for 25, followed by a world tour in support. The message reads:

#adele confirms 2015 Tour After The Release Of Her New Album ‘25’!

But not so fast: Aside from her initial 25 tease on Twitter, Adele has confirmed nothing of the sort. And Beggars Group chairman Martin Mills, head of the parent company to Adele's XL Recordings, tells Billboard there is "no truth in this."

Why the World Music Awards would enter into Adele's story is unclear. The annual Monte Carlo-based ceremony is something of a curiosity on the international awards calendar. The broadcast of this year's May 27 show was supposed to air live on NBC, but the feed was postponed at the last minute with organizers blaming "technical issues." In 2006, the awards relocated for a one-off show in London. After a horror-run of mix-ups, one British tabloid coined the event the "Worst Music Awards."

The award-winning British singer set tongues wagging back in May when she tweeted a message on her birthday along with the caption "Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year x."

Adele's first album, 19, was written and released in 2008 when the singer was 19 years old. Its follow-up, 21, captures her life as a 21-year-old. It doesn't take a genius to surmise her third offering might be titled 25 to match her age.

When Adele's next album does arrive, it will be one of the year's biggest releases. With 19, she was anointed one of the music industry's most promising prospects. With 21, she had a global blockbuster on her hands, and the Londoner was swiftly elevated to mega-star status.

Adele's 21 has shipped some 30 million global units, including more than 10 million in the U.S. It's a remarkable milestone for any era, but particularly so in a post-Internet landscape, when best-sellers' milestones are rarely eye-catching.

Along with a trophy cabinet stacked with Grammys, Brit Awards and an Oscar (Best Original Song for "Skyfall"), Adele became a mother for the first time in 2012.
