AETN, Network 18 team for India channels
History Channel, Biography among new channels to launch
NEW DELHI -- A&E Television Networks and leading Indian broadcasting group Network18 announced a joint venture, AETN-18, which will launch popular AETN channels here including The History Channel and Biography.
The Mumbai-based JV is awaiting regulatory approval and the timelines for the channel launches will be announced shortly, according to a joint statement.
New York-based AETN's 44-channel portfolio also includes women's network Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, Crime & Investigation Network, and The Military Channel, claiming a reach of over 250 million TV households in over 150 countries. AETN is a joint venture of Disney-ABC Television Group, Hearst Corporation and NBC Universal.
Network18 is one of India's pioneering broadcasting conglomerates reaching 250 million Indian households with its bouquet of channels which include CNBC-TV18, CNN-IBN and outlets from its equal joint venture with Viacom such as Colors, MTV India, VH1 India, and Nickelodeon.
