COLOGNE, Germany - Oscar contenders from some of Europe's smaller countries will receive the spotlight at the American Film Market this year as part of European Film Promotion's annual AFM Best Foreign Language Film screening.

The EFP will host the screening of seven European titles submitted for consideration for the 2013 Best Foreign Language Oscar, including Ursula Meier's award-winning Swiss drama Sister, Our Children, a drama from Belgium filmmaker Joachim Lafosse and the acclaimed Dutch children's film Kauwboy from director Boudewijn Koole.

The remainder of the EFP Oscar contenders hail from Central and Eastern Europe and include Macedonian drama The Third Half from director Darko Mitrevski, Vegetarian Cannibal from Croatian director Branko Schmidt, the Slovak title Made in Ash from director Iveta Grofova and David Ondricek's In The Shadow, which is representing the Czech Republic.

All seven films are seeking U.S. distribution.

The EFP will screen the Oscar contenders for international buyers, selected press and Academy members at the AFM between Nov. 3 - Nov. 7.

The screenings take place at the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills. AFM visitors can find information on the films as well as a screening schedule at the EFP’s Umbrella Office in the Loews Hotel (Suite 524) in Santa Monica.
