AFM 2012: Global Screen Takes 'A Thousand Times Goodnight'
Juliette Binoche stars as a war photograher in the drama from Norwegian director Erik Poppe.
Santa Monica – Global Screen, the world sales operation run by Germany's Telepool and Bavaria Film, has picked up international distribution rights outside Sweden and Norway to A Thousand Times Goodnight, the new drama from Norwegian Erik Poppe (Troubled Water) which stars Juliette Binoche as a war photographer.
The film, which also features Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr., is currently shooting in Ireland and will move to Kabul, Afghanistan, Morocco and Kenya in the coming weeks.
Thousand Times traces the struggle of Rebecca (Binoche), a world-famous war photographer whose is given an ultimatum from her husband and daughter to quit her dangerous job or leave the family.
Poppe, inspired in part by his own experiences as a war photographer in the 1980s, co-wrote the screenplay with Harald Rosenlow Eeg.
Budgeted at $7 million (NOK 40 million), Thousand Times is being produced by Finn Gjerdrum and Stein B. Kvae for Norweigan shingle Paradox in co-production with Zentropa International in Sweden and Ireland's Newgrange Pictures.
The film is set to bow in Norway in the Fall of 2013.
Global Screen is pitching A Thousand Times Goodnight to international buyers at AFM.
