The supernatural thriller is based on an Olivier-nominated stage play.

Rising British actor Alex Lawther, who broke out in The Imitation Game and recently starred in one of Black Mirror's darkest episodes, has joined Martin Freeman in Ghost Stories.

Shooting on the film — a supernatural thriller based on the Olivier-nominated stage play of the same name — has now begun, with Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen) directing alongside Andy Nynam (The Commuter, Severance) from their own script. Nyman, who starred in the original theater production, also leads the cast, while Paul Whitehouse also stars.

The film is produced for Warp Films by Claire Jones (Sightseers, Kill List) and Robin Gutch ('71, Kill List) and is backed by Catalyst Global Media and Screen Yorkshire.

Altitude Film Sales is handling worldwide sales. Lionsgate will distribute the film in the U.K.
