AFM: Ivanhoe Takes Rights to YA Novel 'The Walled City'

The action adventure project is based on the book by Ryan Graudin

Ivanhoe Pictures has picked up the rights to adapt Ryan Graudin's YA action-adventure novel The Walled City.

The book, pitched as Hunger Games meets The Maze Runner, was published Nov. 4 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. The story follows three teenagers who are fighting to survive and escape a lawless, walled city. Graudin, author of All That Glows, based the fictional city in his new novel on China’s Kowloon Walled City.

Ivanhoe Pictures' John Penotti, Kelly Carmichael and Josh Cohen will produce the film adaptation and are overseeing development.

The deal for The Walled City, announced Thursday, was negotiated by Tracey Adams of Adams Literary and Stephen Moore of Paul Kohner Inc. on behalf of Ryan Graudin and Brian Kornreich on behalf of Ivanhoe Pictures.
