AFM: Luc Besson's EuropaCorp Signs Canadian Output Deal
VVS Films will release titles from the mini-major film studio, starting with 'Transporter Legacy'
Luc Besson's mini-major film studio EuropaCorp has inked a deal with VVS Films to get its movies released in Canada.
Terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed, but indie distributor VVS Films will handle EuropaCorp titles here, starting with Transporter Legacy, which hits Canadian theaters on June 19, 2015. The Canadian deal follows EuropaCorp and Relativity Media unveiling a joint venture to release movies from both companies in the U.S. market.
VVS Films, which releases around 40 movie titles each year, earlier pacted with EuropaCorp to release Brick Mansions, which starred the late Paul Walker, in the Canadian market. "We are very pleased to work with VVS in this major Canadian market. After creating our distribution company in the United States, it is a next step to ensure the success of our films in the English language," said Christophe Lambert, CEO of EuropaCorp, in a statement.
EuropaCorp, based in Paris, was founded by producer and director Besson, who owns more than 40 percent of the equity in the publicly traded entity.
