AFM: Pathe Finds International Homes for 'Viceroy's House'
The historical drama, starring Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson, is currently in post-production.
Almost a week after the Loews Hotel in Santa Monica closed its doors to AFM for another year, Pathe International has announced a slew of international pickups for its upcoming historical drama Viceroy's House.
The sales include Australia/New Zealand (Transmission), Germany (Tobis), Greece (Feelgood), Italy (Cinema), Latin America (Gussi), Malaysia (Suraya), Middle East (Gulf), Portugal (Nos), Scandinavia (Nordisk) and Singapore (Shaw).
Pathe will distribute the film in the U.K. and France, and Reliance Entertainment will distribute the film in India.
Chronicling the turbulent final days of British rule in India in 1947, the film stars Hugh Bonneville, swapping Downton Abbey for another upper-class residence, as Lord Mountbatten, with Gillian Anderson as his wife. Lily Travers (Kingsman), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter), Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Manish Dayal (The Hundred Foot Journey), Huma Qureshi (Gangs of Wasseypur) and Om Puri (East Is East) also star.
Shot in Jodhpur, India, Viceroy's House is currently in post-production and scheduled for completion in May.
The film was directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) from a screenplay she co-wrote with Paul Mayeda Berges and Moira Buffini. Chada, Deepak Nayar (Bend it like Beckham) and Berges have produced, with Pathe’s Cameron McCracken, Reliance’s Shibasish Sarkar, BBC Films' Christine Langan, the BFI’s Natascha Wharton and Ingenious Media’s Tim O’Shea executive producing.
