AFM: Russia's 'Snow Queen' Picked Up in European, Latin American Territories
Wizart signed a raft of international deals in early AFM sales activity.
Russian animation producer Wizart has signed a raft of agreements for its animated feature franchise Snow Queen and cartoon movie Sheep & Wolves in early sales activity at the ongoing AFM in Santa Monica.
The Moscow-based company has sold home entertainment rights to Sheep and Wolves to Germany's Koch Media for Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the South Tyrol. It also sold the film to Denmark (Angel Scandinavia A/S) in the first Scandinavian deal for the franchise.
The Snow Queen 2 sold to Spain in a 120-screen deal for a January release with Vercine, and rights to the third movie in the franchise have been dealt in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania in a pact with distributor Blitz for a December release, planned to coincide with the film's Russian premiere.
Commenting on the Spanish deal, Vercine's president Ignacio Pueblo said: "We’ve been closely watching Wizart and the Snow Queen's success all over the world and we didn’t have a slightest doubt that Spanish children would love the feature as well."
Sheep and Wolves and The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice also will get a wide release in Latin American territories after California Films picked up the pics. Releases are scheduled for mid-2017 during the Southern Hemisphere's winter.
French distributor Zylo also acquired home entertainment rights for France, Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Andorra and Luxembourg for another Wizart property.
