Al Pacino Cashes In On 'Glengarry Glen Ross' Revival
The film and stage veteran will reportedly make $125,000 a week plus five percent of profits during the 10-week Broadway run.
Instead of "Always Be Closing," the "ABCs" of this fall's Broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross could also stand for "Al's Big Check."
Bloomberg reports that Al Pacino is taking home a hefty payday for his role as Shelly "The Machine" Levene in David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning play about shady Chicago real estate agents. The play is currently in previews at The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre and opens November 11.
According to the report, for the 10-week run, Pacino is receiving a minimum of $125,000 a week. After the initial investment of approximately $2.3 million is paid back to investors, Pacino will also receive five percent of the profits, with other profit incentives built-in.

To put that in perspective, the report says the total weekly salary for all seven actors, including Pacino, in the play is $155,000. This means cast members Richard Schiff, David Harbour, John C. McGinley, Jeremy Shamos, Murphy Guyer and Bobby Cannavale, who plays Ricky Roma, the role Pacino played in the 1992 film adaptation that earned him an Academy Award nomination, will divide approximately $30,000 per week.
Pacino's paycheck isn't too far off from Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig's salaries of approximately $120,000 per week for 2009's A Steady Rain, or Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane's $100,000 per week plus a percentage of profits for their three-month return to The Producers in 2004.
According to Bloomberg, the show's operating agreement was obtained from the office of the New York Attorney General through a Freedom of Information Law request.
Pacino was last seen on Broadway in The Merchant of Venice in 2010.
This revival of Glengarry Glen Ross is directed by Daniel Sullivan, who also directed Merchant, and is expected to close on December 30.
