Alan Cumming has been tapped to host the inaugural Village Voice Pride Awards, which will honor "local and global heroes in the LGBTQ movement."

The ceremony is set to take place June 21 at Capitale in New York, during Pride Week. An announcement on a performance by "Grammy-nominated artists" is forthcoming.

In addition to the ceremony, the awards gala will feature a VIP cocktail reception and a silent auction to benefit Heritage of Pride, a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and commemorating New York City Pride.

"I'm so excited to be hosting the inaugural Pride Awards," Cumming said Wednesday in a statement. "Let’s not beat about the bush — we’re living in a time where all the strides we’ve made together as queer people are under threat. So, it couldn’t be more timely that the Village Voice — a longtime advocate for the community — raises its standard and proclaims anew how much we have to celebrate and be proud of."
