Alan Cumming Joins James Franco Film 'Maladies'

Alan Cumming has a new project under his belt.

The Good Wife actor is currently filming alongside 127 Hours star James Franco in Maladies, he confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter at The Tempest afterparty Monday night.

"[Maladies] is really fascinating, directed by this guy Carter who is the artist that James [Franco] has been collaborating with," Cumming tells THR.

"I'm just doing a little part ... and just for Christmas," he explained.

Maladies, directed by Carter, centers on a successful actor who retires at a young age due to what is believed to be a mental illness. Claire Danes, who recently signed on for Showtime's Homeland pilot, and Catherine Keener also star.

Cumming also talked about his experience playing a transvestite in a miniseries The Runaway that will bow in March overseas in Britain.

"I have a new found respect for women in terms of what they have to go through. The labors of everyday," he says. "It was very interesting, just on so many levels. Having to get all the hair removed from my body, you can't open your legs. Try getting out of a car without opening your legs, boys! Even bras are itchy. My hat was off to girls."
