Alexander McQueen's Face May Be on British Money
He's in the running to grace the UK's next 20 pound note.
In America, it’s only dead presidents and political figures who appear on paper money. But Britain is much more creative with their currency, as evidenced by the current decision the public is involved in to choose a face for the new 20 pound note.
According to the Washington Post, the Bank of England has asked people to nominate people of historical significance from the world of visual arts to grace the bill, which will be printed in 2020. One of the front-runners? The late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

Surely the fashion crowd will all be pulling for the British favorite — his friends included Kate Moss and Sadie Frost — whose successor Sarah Burton designed Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. The other famous figures he’s up against include Charlie Chaplin, poet William Blake, photographer Cecil Beaton, painter William Hogarth and The Miracle on 34th Street actor Richard Attenborough.
