'Alice' actor joining Apatow's 'Bridesmaids'

Matt Lucas among several joining comedy's cast

Matt Lucas, the British actor who played Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," is joining the cast of Universal's Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Bridesmaids."

Also dressing up for the occasion are Ellie Kemper ("The Office"), Jill Clayburgh ("Dirty Sexy Money"), Chris O'Dowd ("Dinner for Schmucks"), Melissa McCarthy ("The Back-up Plan") and Wendi McLendon-Covey ("Reno 911!").

The film stars Kristen Wiig as a maid of honor trying to please the snobby, rich bridesmaids at every pre-wedding event before her best friend's nuptials. Rose Byrne and Maya Rudolph also star.

Wiig wrote the screenplay with Annie Mumolo. Paul Feig is directing.

Apatow is producing, through his Apatow Productions banner, with Barry Mendel.
