'Alice Through the Looking Glass' Trailer: Alice Fights Time to Save Mad Hatter
The 'Alice in Wonderland' sequel is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
After debuting a few short teasers, Disney has released the first full trailer for its Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass.
In the preview, Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is shown returning to Underland to take on a human version of Time, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, to help the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), who is in danger.
The preview intercuts visuals of clocks and their ticking sound with ominous scenes from Underland.
A voiceover sets the stage for the sequel: "When the day becomes the night, and the sky becomes the sea; when the clock strikes heavy, and there's no time for tea; and in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time."
The trailer also features a number of magical scenes, including Alice opening a door and falling from the sky, screaming, and a few people walking through mirrors.
In addition to Wasikowska, Depp and Cohen, the follow-up features Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen and Rhys Ifans and is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
The film, which sees Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton producing, while James Bobin steps behind the camera, is based on Lewis Carroll's second Alice novel, 1871's Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.
Linda Woolverton, who wrote the original film, as well as 2014's Maleficent, also penned the sequel.
The first Alice film made $1.02 billion at the global box office in 2010.
