Urban Decay Unveils 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' Collaboration
Your next must-have eye shadow palette.
Alice Through the Looking Glass — starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter — promises to be nothing if not fantastical, and Urban Decay has once again mirrored that extravagant world in makeup form. Five years ago, the beauty brand released the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, which sold out in hours. Now it has revealed the sequel: a limited-edition eye shadow palette and five special lipsticks.
Urban Decay — which makes the industry standard Naked Palette and recently hired Ruby Rose — outdid itself with this latest effort. With trippy kaleidoscopic packaging, a mirror emblazoned with "We’re all mad here" and a 3D pop-up butterfly, the palette awakens all your senses. It features 20 brand-new shades, arranged in columns by character — think the soft peach matte Reflection, from Alice’s collection, a sparkly green called Hatter and the metallic crimson Salazen Grum, which is part of the lineup for Iracebeth, the Red Queen. A double-ended brush is included.
The $60 palette will be sold at Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Macys stores beginning May 5, as well as on the Urban Decay’s website May 1. Alongside it, for the first time, there are lipsticks, one for each of the five characters represented in the palette. Alice’s shade is, naturally, a delicate pink-nude sheer, but the others are perfectly wild. Mad Hatter is bright shimmery purple, Time is a navy-gunmetal shade, Mirana is a deep berry and Iracebeth, of course, is a bright red matte. Each comes in a tube with the same Technicolor design ($18). If tradition holds, they won’t be around for long.
