Amal Clooney Named Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating Person of 2014
"It's amazing that Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy," Walters says of the human rights attorney, who wed George Clooney earlier this year
It's been quite the year for Amal Clooney.
First, the widely respected human rights attorney — formerly Amal Alamuddin — has continued to see success in her career representing such clients as Julian Assange and Kofi Annan.
In September 2014, she got married to George Clooney — who once declared that he would never get married again — in a whirlwind celebration in Venice attended by Hollywood A-listers from Matt Damon to Bill Murray. Her attire, including a wedding gown designed by the late Oscar de la Renta, landed her on several best-dressed lists.
And now, she's been named Barbara Walters' most fascinating person of 2014.
Explains Walters: "It's amazing that Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy. Maybe because we, like George Clooney, find it impossible to resist perfection. Or maybe because it is heartening to think that no matter how long it may take, the perfect someone is out there or everyone, and that for us makes her the most fascinating person of 2014."
