Amanda Bynes joins 'Canned'

Actress cast in ABC comedy pilot

Amanda Bynes is returning to series television as one of the stars of ABC' comedy pilot "Canned."

The project, from ABC Studios, is about a group of friends, including Sarabeth (Bynes), who are fired in a corporate shake-up.

Sarabeth is a naive Midwestern girl who often spent nights at the office to get her work done.

Bynes joins Tim Peper, Stephanie Lemelin and Baron Vaughn who were previously cast in the pilot.

Bynes shot to fame as a tween star on Nickelodeon. She segued into broadcast TV with her WB comedy series "What I Like About You."

Her feature credits include "Hairspray" and "She's the Man." She most recently co-starred opposite Harry Connick Jr. in the Lifetime movie "Living Proof," exec produced by Renee Zellweger and "Hairspray" producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
