Amazon Channels Launches in U.K. With Discovery, NBCU, ITV Content
Discovery unveils its first major U.K. streaming deal as the Amazon channels service also becomes available in Germany.
Amazon is launching its third-party channels service, Amazon Channels, in the U.K. and Germany.
The e-commerce giant struck U.K. carriage deals with the likes of ITV, NBCUniversal and Discovery to offer various live and on-demand channels, including ITV Hub Plus, NBC’s reality TV streaming service Hayu, Discovery Channel and Discovery’s Eurosport Player.
The U.K. prices for each service range from £1.49 to £9.99 ($1.93 to $12.96) per month. The channels can be added by Amazon Prime members, who pay £79 ($102.53) a year.
Discovery has also announced its first major U.K. streaming deal, offering the linear Discovery Channel and on-demand programming, such as Gold Rush and Deadliest Catch, for £4.99 ($6.48) per month.
Also on offer will be the likes of BFI Player+, which makes available classic British movies on demand, as well as MGM, which promises "Hollywood hits, timeless classics and cult favorite movies from MGM."
Amazon Channels launched in the U.S. last year.
