Amazon India, Warner Bros. Ink Licensing Deal
The deal covers such movies as 'Sully,' 'Suicide Squad' and 'Godzilla,' as well as TV shows including 'Lethal Weapon,' 'Supernatural' and 'Two and a Half Men.'
Amazon India has inked a long-term content deal with Warner Bros. covering a range of films and TV shows, which will be available exclusively to Indian subscribers of the e-tail giant's Prime Video service.
Movie titles covered include the Tom Hanks starrer Sully, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, The Conjuring 2 and Lights Out in addition to such catalog titles as Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, Annabelle and Into the Storm.
The deal also covers numerous TV shows, such as Lethal Weapon, Supernatural, Blindspot, The Last Ship, 2 Broke Girls, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Two and a Half Men.
No financial details were disclosed.
“With top TV shows soon after their U.S. broadcast and classic ever-green movies and TV shows from the Warner Bros. studio, our Prime Video customers will see even further value in the Prime membership,” said Amazon Prime Video director and country head Nitesh Kripalani.
Amazon launched its Prime membership service in India last year at a special introductory price of about $7.50 (499 rupees) for one year.
Amazon has previously also inked licensing deals with Paramount and Lionsgate to bolster its international content offerings for India.
