The multi-year agreement provides the U.K. streaming video service with such titles as "Bridesmaids," "Despicable Me" and "Battleship."
LONDON - Amazon.com's streaming video service LoveFilm, sometimes called "the Netflix of Europe," said Wednesday that it has struck an exclusive multi-year digital licensing agreement with NBCUniversal for Universal Pictures films.
The streaming deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution covers such titles as Kick-Ass, Despicable Me, American Reunion, Battleship, Bridesmaids, Safe House and Senna in the second pay window.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The titles can be accessed through the LoveFilm service, which has been competing with Netflix in the U.K.
The streaming service previously struck agreements with Disney, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Entertainment One and StudioCanal.
"LoveFilm is proud to offer its members access to the highest-quality content across multiple platforms from another of the world’s most respected studios," said Jim Buckle, managing director of LoveFilm. Among the additional Universal Pictures titles that will be available for instant viewing on LoveFilm will be the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, as well as Bourne Legacy and Dr Seuss’ The Lorax.
