Amazon Picks Up British Comedy 'Catastrophe'
The half-hour series stars Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan as a couple learning to handle a new relationship and pregnancy all at the same time.
Amazon Studios is adding a bit of British comedy to its streaming lineup.
The tech giant has inked a deal to bring the United Kingdom's Catastrophe to its customers. The half-hour series will stream exclusively in the U.S. on Amazon's Prime Instant Video this spring and will come to Amazon's U.K. service later this year.
Catastrophe stars Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan as an American man and Irish woman in London who struggle to start a relationship after she gets pregnant. The series is produced by Jack Bayles and directed by Ben Taylor. Delaney and Horgan created the series and executive produce alongside Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker and Jon Thoday. Catastrophe, which comes from Avalon Television and co-producers Birdbath Productions and Merman, is currently airing on Channel 4 in the U.K.
“Rob and Sharon have created an engaging, contemporary, funny and moving story,” said Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price. “We are excited to bring Catastrophe exclusively to our Amazon Prime customers and can’t wait to hear what they think of the series."
