Amazon Studios Sets August Premiere for Third Group of Pilots
Viewers have a say in which shows become series
Amazon is releasing five new pilots to the public on Aug. 28.
The third slate of pilots, which will be available on Amazon Instant Video in the United States and United Kingdom, will include projects from Steven Soderbergh and Whit Stillman.
The pilot release is part of Amazon's development process in which it gives viewers the chance to provide feedback before deciding what pilots to pick up. Earlier this year Amazon Studios, led by Roy Price, released 10 pilots, including five children's series, and picked up six projects to series, including Transparent, The After and Bosch.
There are three comedies in the upcoming wave of pilots, including Paris-set The Cosmopolitans from Stillman, starring Chloe Sevigny and Adam Brody; Really from Jay Chandrasekhar, starring Sarah Chalke; and workplace comedy Red Oaks from Soderbergh.
The dramas include Hand of God, starring Ron Perlman as a law-bending judge and Dana Delaney as his wife, and thriller Hysteria, starring Mena Suvari as a doctor who returns to her hometown to investigate a mysterious outbreak.
