Amazon Video to Produce 'The Bachelor Japan' Series
The series will be the first major reality TV offering from Amazon Japan, co-produced with WB International Television and local partners.
Amazon Video is to produce The Bachelor Japan, an original local version of the hit global dating reality show, scheduled to begin streaming in April 2017.
The series is the first Japanese version of a US reality format by Amazon, as the company continues to expand its original, localized content for its Prime and Amazon Video platforms. It will be created in partnership with Warner Bros. International Television Production and local partners Dentsu and Yoshimoto Kogyo. Dentsu is Japan's biggest advertising agency and Yoshimoto Kogyo its largest talent agency.
The bachelor for the first series will be Hirotake Kubo, the 35-year-old former CEO of a IT company, which he sold and is now looking for love among the 25 contestants on the show.
The Bachelor has been aired in more than 200 countries and spawned more than 30 local versions.
Amazon has already announced more than a dozen original local productions, including dramas, dramas, comedies, documentaries, kids and variety shows, to be available to Prime members in Japan.
