The 10-part anthology series will premiere globally minutes after airing in the U.S.

Underlining its strategy of taking its own shows across its international networks, AMC has added Europe and Latin American to the territories where the network will air anthology drama series The Terror.

The 10-episode project — which was first greenlighted for AMC in March — will premiere globally on AMC Global within minutes of airing on AMC in the U.S.

The Terror comes from Scott Free, Emjag Productions and Entertainment 360, in association with AMC Studios, which is distributing internationally.

Based on Dan Simmons' best-selling novel and written by David Kajganich (A Bigger Splash), the story is set in 1847, when a British Royal Navy expedition crew looking for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crew.

Kajganich also will serve as co-showrunnner with Soo Hugh (The Killing), with both executive producing. Other exec producers are Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker of Scott Free Productions; Alexandra Milchan, who helped develop The Wolf of Wall Street; Scott Lambert for Emjag Productions; and Entertainment 360's Guymon Casady.

"We’re very excited to bring this gripping dramatic story to AMC Global audiences exclusively next year within minutes of the AMC U.S. premiere," said Harold Gronenthal, executive vp, programming and operations for AMC and the Sundance Channel Global. "With a distinctive combination of science fiction and historical non-fiction, The Terror will complement the outstanding lineup of original series on AMC Global, such as Fear the Walking Dead, Humans and Into the Badlands."
