AMC Spotlights 'Spinal Tap' 30-Year Anniversary on iPad Movie App (Video)
New version of classic rock movie will boast special features and be available free to YEAH! users.
The “thin line between clever and stupid” has just been erased.
AMC Networks has made available a brand-new version of This Is Spinal Tap, the iconic 1984 film that's listed at the National Film Registry, the Library of Congress, and has a cherished place in every rock band’s tour bus video vault.
AMC is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the classic mockumentary by making it available on its YEAH! iPad movie app, with a complimentary screening of its latest curation, This Is Spinal Tap - The Special Features Version. The film is available for online viewing at www.yeahtv.com/spinaltap, through April 11.
The new version is designed for the interactivity made possible by the iPad, a new platform for film fans, who now have access to new content integrated into the screen below the film as it plays. This includes exclusive interviews with director Rob Reiner, actor Fred Willard and real-life rocker-actor Paul Shortino, as well as exclusive commentary about the film’s lasting influence from two dozen music luminaries, including Jack Black, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Rob Zombie, Meat Loaf, Dave Navarro, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, Billy Corgan, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Andrew W.K. There also are hundreds of little-known facts about the film, along with interactive polls, quizzes, links to IMDB and much more.
