Will oversee current scripted programming, developmentSusie Fitzgerald has finalized a deal to join AMC as senior vp scripted development and current programming.
In the new position, Fitzgerald will oversee the day-to-day operations of the network's current original scripted programming as well as the development of new projects. She'll report to Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior vp original programming, production and digital content.
AMC had been looking to add another scripted programming executive since February, when senior vp scripted series and miniseries Christina Wayne abruptly resigned after three years on the job.
Fitzgerald most recently was president of Barry Josephson's 20th TV-based production company ("Bones").
She spent three years at Darren Star Prods., where she shepherded ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" and the CW's "Runaway."
Fitzgerald also spent 10 years at Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, where she rose to co-head of Brad Grey TV. There she supervised the development and production of "The Sopranos" and was instrumental in the casting of James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano.
Early on, Fitzgerald was vp original programming at HBO, West Coast, supervising such series as "The Larry Sanders Show," "Dream On" and "Tales From the Crypt."
