'America's Most Wanted' Featuring John Walsh Ends 23-Year Run on Fox
America's Most Wanted aired its final episode on Fox on Saturday night, ending a 23-year run that saw nearly 1,200 fugitives brought to justice.
"You've saved lives and gotten people justice," host John Walsh told viewers during the episode.
Fox announced last month that it was ending the crime show as a weekly series, with execs saying the show makes no money. The network instead will air four two-hour editions a year.
But Walsh has said he's looking for another home for the show. Last week, he said he'd been in touch with other networks, including Fox News Channel, and that an announcement could come within two weeks.
"I'm fighting hard to keep this franchise going," he told the Associated Press last week. "It's a television show that gets ratings and saves lives, and we'll find somewhere to keep going. We're not done."
AMW was launched in 1981, after Walsh's 6-year-old son, Adam, was kidnapped and murdered.
