Amitraj takes pitches for new reality series

'Project Pitching' will broadcast on Singapore channels

CANNES -- Singapore's Media Development Authority is putting Hyde Park head honcho Ashok Amritraj in front of cameras.

Amritraj will host a two-part reality TV series, "Project Pitching and Development with Ashok" or "Project PDA," that will be broadcast at the end of the year on Singapore's free-to-air channels. The show will feature filmmaking teams competing through creative, marketing and business challenges for an internship at the Hyde Park Group in L.A. as well as the chance to have their films co-financed by MDA and distributed by Hyde Park.

"Hyde Park is constantly on the look out for exciting projects, fresh talent and new cinematic stories," Amritraj said. "Through this project, we hope to discover the local talent in Singapore and what they can bring to the international filmmaking scene."

"Project PDA," which also will involve contestants pitching their film concepts to a panel of judges, will be filmed in Singapore in August. The series will commemorate Amritraj, Hyde Park Entertainment's chairman and CEO, as he celebrates the production of his 100th film.

Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment has produced the films "Bringing Down the House," "Shopgirl" and "Walking Tall." In May 2008, the company first established its Asian headquarters in Singapore with a $75 million production fund and subsequently extended the partnership to include Imagenation Abu Dhabi, leading to the formation of Hyde Park Imagenation Singapore.
