The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences is suing to recover Oscar statuettes orginally awarded silent-era actors Mary Pickford and Charles "Buddy" Rogers. The AMPAS claims the right to repurchase Oscars from the estates of deceased actors for $10 per statuette.

In its Los Angeles Superior Court suit against the estate of Beverly Lorraine Rogers and three co-executors, AMPAS seeks an injunction barring the sale of the Oscars to other parties and an order granting it the ability to purchase them.
