Amy Winehouse Doc's Haunting Trailer Released: "Someone Who Is Trying to Disappear" (Video)
The controversial project hits limited theaters July 3 before expanding nationwide July 10.
"The more people see of me, the more they'll realize that all I'm good for is making music," says a beaming Amy Winehouse in the first full trailer for Amy.
Asif Kapadia's controversial documentary, which premiered at Cannes and will be distributed by A24, zooms in on the creative moments of the late singer, who died in 2011 at age 27 from alcohol poisoning. The Winehouse family has recently chosen to "disassociate” itself from the film.
The trailer compiles archival footage of the performer, smiling and laughing in interviews and offstage, as others praise her via voiceover. However, it turns much darker, as clips show the singer drinking and kissing "someone who I would've died for, and that's like a real drug, isn't it?"
