Anderson Cooper Tops List of Most-Searched Media Personalities
Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Chris Matthews are also on the list.
Anderson Cooper is at the top of the list of most-searched media personalities, according to New York-based Zeta Interactive.
In its annual report of the media personalities who drive the biggest web traffic, the CNN and daytime talk show host rose from No. 9 in 2010 to No. 1. The addition of Cooper's already-renewed daytime effort, Anderson, to his slate may have added to the awareness.
Meanwhile, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart remains at No. 2 for the second year in a row. Following Stewart was follow Comedy Central colleague Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.
MSNBC's Hardball host Chris Matthews jumped up to No. 4 after being sixth last year, while Today's Al Roker -- who was not on the last in 2010 -- made it on at No. 5. Matt Lauer placed sixth on the lsit, while Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly dropped to No. 7 after being last year's top media personality.
The View co-host and interviewer Barbara Walters dropped to No. 8 and the same with Sean Hannity, who slipped to ninth. Charlie Rose, who will start his new venture at CBS News in January, rounded out the top 10.
Two people who were on the list last year, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and Joy Behar, did not make the top 10, according to the report.
Algorithms are used to cull data for the report. In Cooper's case, the terms associated with him include "CNN," "Next," "Best Interviewer" and "Smart."
