Andrea Riseborough-Starrer 'Resistance' to Get Royal Audience

LONDON – HRH the Prince of Wales is set to attend the Welsh premiere for Resistance, starring Andrea Riseborough, Tom Wlaschiha and Michael Sheen.

Prince Charles is set to go to the movies twice in a month having already committed to attend Martin Scorsese’s live action adventure Hugo after that movie was chosen to be this year’s Royal Film Performance at the end of November.

But the Prince of Wales will be in Abergavenny, Wales the week before to attend the premiere of Amit Gupta’s feature film debut Resistance, based on the novel of the same name by Owen Sheers.

Set in Wales and made with funding from the Film Agency of Wales, the picture is being distributed in the U.K. by Metrodome Distribution, rolling out from Nov. 25.

The movie is set in an alternative 1944 where Russia has fallen to Nazi Germany and the D-Day landings have failed. With Britain partly occupied by German forces, a group of Welsh villagers wake to discover that their husbands have mysteriously disappeared.

The script, penned by Gupta and Sheers for the big screen, secured backing from Munich-based Square One Entertainment and the Film Agency of Wales, the latter having bankrolled the movie's development also.

Brit indie producer Richard Holmes is producing the movie alongside Amanda Faber, with Richard Staniforth as exec producer.
