Andrew Plotkin Joins New Regency as VP of Television
The executive comes to the relaunched division from Syfy, where he most recently served as SVP of original programming.
New Regency has tapped a leader for its newly relaunched television department. The company announced Monday that Syfy exec Andrew Plotkin has joined as vice president of television.
President and CEO Brad Weston made the announcement, reinforcing the studio's commitment to returning to TV and expanding original production, financing and distribution efforts.
“We set out to grow our television business in much the same way that we have built our film business -- through a talent-driven and hands-on approach that allows Regency to be a part of projects and partnerships that we believe in,” said Weston. “Andrew brings immense talent and unparalleled enthusiasm to Regency. We could not be more thrilled to have him on our team as we re-energize our television division.”
Plotkin most recently served as senior vice president of original programming at Syfy. His new job finds him reporting directly to Weston, developing programming and overseeing production. He will also extend the studio's current project load, including its first-look agreement with Israel’s ADD and original programming like HBO drama Beat the Reaper.
Before his time at Syfy, Plokin worked as an executive producer and partner at Warner Bros. Television's Class IV Productions and served as the Vice President of Drama Development for WBTV.
