The exec has been instrumental in the development of Showtime's 'The Chi' and USA Network's 'Queen of the South.'

Andy Bourne is moving up at Fox 21.

The executive has been promoted to senior vp of development at the studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In his new role, Bourne will continue to develop programs for cable channels and streaming services in addition to identifying fresh talent and ideas for series. He will work closely with agents and executives across platforms, and will shepherd projects through the development process from inception to pilot order.

Bourne will report to Fox 21 president Bert Salke.

The promotion comes four years into Bourne's tenure at the studio, where he was instrumental in bringing the Lena Waithe-created drama The Chi to Showtime. He also played an important role in shepherding Veena Sud's upcoming racial crime drama Seven Seconds, which marks Fox 21's first collaboration with Netflix, as well as USA Network's cartel drama Queen of the South, which returns this year for season two.

"Since the merger of Fox 21 and FTVS, Andy has been responsible for or played a large role in a number of our new series," Salke said Tuesday in a statement. "It's rare to find an executive who is as talented and passionate as he is well-liked and nice, and Andy is all of those things. We’re excited to promote him."

Before joining Fox 21 in 2013, Bourne served as head of television at Omni Press and head of development for former NBC chief Warren Littlefield.
