Animal Planet has struck a deal with CNN to air the second window of the cable news network's "Planet in Peril," a series co-hosted by Animal Planet personality Jeff Corwin. The two-part, four-hour series, centering on threats to the world's environment, will air on Animal Planet from 8-10 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3, about a month after its premiere on CNN.

The series, co-hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, will focus on four main environmental issues: climate change, deforestation, species loss and overpopulation. It was shot in high-definition across four continents and 13 countries.

"Collaborating with CNN and sharing the talent of Jeff Corwin is a win-win for both networks that are so passionate about communicating the critical environmental and conservation message," said Marjorie Kaplan, president and GM of Animal Planet and Discovery Kids Media.

Animal Planet is owned by Discovery Communications; CNN is a division of Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
