Animasia, Zhejiang Zhongnan Animation to Co-Produce 'My Brother Is Monkey King' (Cannes)
Animated series centers on a brother and sister who fend off villains with their secret super powers.
CANNES -- Animasia Studio, based in Maylasia, has struck a co-production deal worth $5.2 million with China’s Zhejiang Zhongnan Animation to produce a 3D high-def animated series My Brother Is Monkey King.
Comprised of 52, 11-minute episodes, the series was conceived by Animasia, which will work with ZN Animation on its story and design, with both studios joining forces to produce the project, which is inspired by the Chinese myth Journey to the West. The story is set upon a modern city school where a brother and sister fend off villains with their secret super powers.
Adam Ham -- who is executive director of Global Creative and Media Agency, which fosters the growth of Malaysia’s entertainment industry, and who is facilitating the Malaysian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Market -- said, “I am pleased that Cannes brought together opportunities between Malaysia and China. Malaysia, with approximately 30% Chinese population is no doubt an ideal partner for future co-productions.”
