Animation Marketing Veteran David Sameth Upped at Disney
Since joining the studio in 2009, Sameth has led the marketing campaigns for all animated features, including global blockbuster "Frozen."
David Sameth has been promoted to executive vice president of marketing at Walt Disney Studios, where he'll continue to head up campaigns for titles from Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, home of global blockbuster Frozen.
He reports directly to Disney worldwide marketing chief Ricky Strauss.
Sameth has been the marketing brand lead for animation since 2009, supervising all aspects of campaigns for Disney and Pixar films, including Toy Story 3, Tangled, Cars 2, The Muppets, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, Monsters University, Frozen and the upcoming Muppets Most Wanted.
Frozen, released at Thanksgiving, has transformed into a global goliath, earning $1 billion to date and spawning a bestselling soundtrack. The 3D family film also won the Oscar for best animated feature and best song. Sameth led the campaign for the film, which is the second-most successful animated title of all time after Pixar and Disney's Toy Story 3 ($1.06 billion). Frozen has actually beat out Toy Story 3 in more than 25 markets, including China, Brazil and Russia.
Before joining Disney, Sameth served as head of creative advertising at Universal Pictures and at DreamWorks, creating ad campaigns for films including Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, American Beauty, Anchorman and the first two Shrek installments.
