"He'll be great. He's a natural host," says the actress

Anne Hathaway and James Franco received terrible reviews when they hosted the Academy Awards in 2011, and Hathaway is often self-deprecating about her experience. In a new interview with the New York Times Magazine, Hathaway gives this year's host, Neil Patrick Harris, a bit of advice.

"Do the opposite of what I did, and you’ll be fine," said Hathaway. When asked what she think went wrong, she replied, "I think it’s so obvious that it doesn’t even need to be identified." The actress added, "He’ll be great. He’s a natural host."

Hathaway has repeatedly made fun of herself as an Oscars host. She's even gone as far as calling her performance "hyper-cheerleadery."

In the Times, the interviewer asked Hathaway what she learned from the negative backlash she received after winning an Oscar in 2013. "Self-acceptance. If you’re not someone who has a natural and effortless love for yourself, it’s hard to let go of your desire to please other people, and that’s really not an ingredient for a happy life," she said.

So why does she think the "Hatha-haters" dislike her so much? "Oh, I think you can’t answer that and be a self-respecting person," replied the actress.
