Model Anwar Hadid's Future Involves Fashion Design
The little brother of Gigi and Bella, who covers 'Teen Vogue's' latest issue with Vine star Cameron Dallas, reveals modeling isn't the only thing he's interested in.
Instead of the usual beautiful starlet or model, the June 2016 issue of Teen Vogue features a pair of pretty young men: Cameron Dallas and Anwar Hadid. The 21-year-old Vine star from Calvin Klein's latest capsule collection and 16-year-old rising model are officially dubbed the "Boys of Summer."
With the addition of this cover, the Hadids are officially taking over publishing: Bella is on the June issue of Elle, and Gigi has recently covered Vogue Paris and Vogue Germany. Anwar only signed to IMG Models a few months ago (like his big sisters), but he has already appeared in Paper Magazine and Nylon editorials and in a campaign for Rockstar Denim.
Apparently mom Yolanda Foster’s former modeling genes are strong. Anwar credits his sisters’ careers as kicking off his interest in fashion, telling the magazine, "I didn’t grow up rocking designer clothes, so this is all very new to me, but I am now down to wear anything on set." Now, he says, he’s interested in studying fashion design and eventually designing his own label, adding that his "grandfather was a men’s shirt designer in Holland, so it must be in my genes."
He also looks to the ladies in his life for modeling advice: "I feel very lucky for all they have taught me. They tell me to be myself, have fun, and focus on eye expressions," he reveals. Anwar also admits to getting words of wisdom and opinions on the industry from fellow model and buddy Lucky Blue Smith. "I think our family motto is to always work hard, be humble, kind, and thoughtful about others around us," says the self-proclaimed mama’s boy.
